Dedicated High School Students Stuff the Bus to Help United Food Bank Feed Neighbors!
Williams Field High School students demonstrate compassion and creativity as they form a sort-of assembly line to unload this Higley Unified School District bus with donated food items for lots of neighbors experiencing food insecurity right now throughout the East Valley.
United Food Bank is grateful to all students, volunteers, donors, and staff who made this 13th annual Stuff the Bus Food Drive, Nov. 21, at United Food Bank’s Volunteer Center in Mesa possible, successful and fun!
This annual food drive was organized by the National Honor Society and collected an impressive 10,000 pounds and 150 boxes of food for neighbors in need this holiday season.
Students and staff collect food & monetary donations at various schools and community events throughout the month of November, then deliver it to a United Food Bank warehouse at the end of the month each year.
“Students at Williams Field High show dedication and enthusiasm and have made a lasting impact. It’s an incredible food drive but it also makes learning about community support fun and engaging,” says Mandy Hodges, United Food Bank’s Food Drive Manager.
According to Feeding America, the number of food insecure households in the United States has increased more than 30% since 2021. As prices continue to rise, so does the need of millions of neighbors nationwide. Together we are uniting communities to alleviate hunger.
