Amazon Delivers More Than Smiles

From last-minute gifts to daily household supplies, Amazon is known for delivering millions of packages worldwide. But beyond the packages and deliveries, Amazon’s charitable efforts are often overlooked.

Amazon works to address immediate community needs, including supporting unhoused individuals, delivering relief during natural disasters and helping students thrive in the classroom. But the philanthropic area nearest to the company’s heart is supporting families facing food insecurity. That commitment is what led Amazon to United Food Bank.

For the past three years, Amazon has been an active supporter of United Food Bank and the annual Summer of a Million Meals campaign. Through their generosity and financial contributions, they help provide nutritious food to families facing food insecurity throughout the summer. Fittingly, for a company whose iconic logo features a smile, Amazon is going out of its way to give Arizona families another reason to smile.

“At Amazon, we believe that no child should go hungry, and we are pleased to partner with the United Food Bank again for the Summer of a Million Meals program,” shared Vickie Yakunin, Amazon’s Head of Community Affairs. “We’re proud to donate to the United Food Bank, once again, and continue supporting United Food Bank, so that they can do the important work that they’re doing.”

In addition to supporting local organizations financially, Amazon is dedicated to donating its employees’ time to the causes they are passionate about. With thousands of their employees who call Arizona home, the company provides opportunities for them to get involved and give back on their own time through organizations like United Food Bank.

“Our employees work and live here [in Arizona], and they care about the community. To be able to be here at United Food Bank and be able to give back and volunteer really makes an impact,” shared Yakunin.

For United Food Bank, partnerships like Amazon’s are a powerful reminder that addressing food insecurity is a community effort. Support from organizations like Amazon not only helps provide food to families and individuals facing food insecurity but also brings people together to make a meaningful difference in the communities they call home.
