United Food Bank was given a semi-truck to use free of charge for seven months thanks to the generosity of RWC Idealease. Beginning last October, United Food Bank received news of the delivery of nearly four million pounds of additional food from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) due to the trade mitigation package aimed at assisting farmers suffering from damage due to trade retaliation by other countries. However, with this additional food, United Food Bank needed to raise nearly $350,000 to cover costs of additional truck rentals and fuel to distribute to the organization’s 19,500-square-mile service area.

RWC Idealease, based in Phoenix, delivers a level of responsiveness and awareness to the needs of the community and answered United Food Bank’s need by providing the hunger-relief organization a semi-truck for free for the next seven months during the mitigation phase, in hopes that United Food Bank raises enough funds to purchase a new semi.

“When we first heard the news that we were to receive nearly four million pounds of food, we were extremely excited. Then the shock hit me and I wondered how we are going to double what we are already doing?” said Dave Richins, CEO of United Food Bank. “RWC Idealease really answered our prayers at a time of need.”

The semi-truck arrived in November 2018 and will be used until May 2019.
