GILBERT, ARIZ., March 25 – The Town of Gilbert is hosting a community-wide food drive March 26 and 27 to help all of its area food pantries and food banks Feed the Families of Gilbert. The drive is in response to the continued impact of the COVID pandemic on a large number of people in the community, particularly in light of many other annual food drives having to be cancelled in the past year.
Dozens of donation sites for food donations will be available throughout Gilbert on those dates from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day. Visit gilbertaz.gov/feedingfamilies to see a map of drop-off sites located under the “locations” tab on the website.
Area residents also can support the drive with cash donations online at gilbertaz.gov/feedingfamilies. Every $1 donated can provide five meals for the hungry in Gilbert. Benefiting pantries and food banks include AZCEND, Matthew’s Crossing Food Bank, Midwest Food Bank, Open Arms Care Center, United Food Bank, and Vineyard Gilbert.
“I am grateful for the remarkable ways Gilbert residents have shown generosity and kindness toward those in need over the last year,” said Gilbert Mayor Brigette Peterson. “The Gilbert Feeding Families Food Drive provides an important opportunity to come together in support of families, kids, and seniors who are facing hunger. Please join me this weekend and stop by your local drop-off site!”
