According to the Arizona Food Bank Network, 79% of food-insecure families have to buy cheaper processed food, knowing it might not be the healthiest, in order to feed their family. distributions.
- Last year, 56% of the 23.7 million pounds of food distributed to people in need throughout the East Valley and eastern Arizona by United Food Bank consisted of fresh or frozen produce, meat and dairy.
- In 2020, United Food Bank will distribute more than 14 million pounds of fresh and frozen foods.
- A few years ago, United Food Bank increased the size of its refrigeration room to 4,880 square feet. That’s large enough to keep many truckloads of produce fresh. United Food Bank has 2,160 square feet of freezer storage space to accommodate frozen meat, vegetables and more.
- As you might imagine, our monthly electric bill is substantial: Almost $7,000 each month.
Providing fresh foods can be challenging, but we’re proud to provide fresh, healthy food for our clients every day!
