UFB Has Record Year
2012_2013-totalThe 2012/2013 fiscal year has come to a close and our totals are in. United Food Bank is proud to announce that it had a record year with 22,398,097 pounds of food distributed through our programs and over 260 partner agencies. That’s up from 19.8 million pounds in the previous fiscal year. This was enough food to provide 18,665,080 meals to Arizonans in need; 2 million more than the previous year. Additionally our new Mega Mobile Pantry assisted over 10,112 people with 276,104 meals in just three months. This new pantry has enabled us to reach out to some of the most vulnerable areas throughout eastern Maricopa, Pinal, Gila, southern Navajo and Apache County.Thank you to all of you for helping us make a larger impact in the lives of those struggling with hunger in Arizona! We could not have accomplished this without your selfless generosity.
Hunger Action Month

The goal is to mobilize the public to help raise awareness create a movement that has a lasting impact on our mission to end hunger in America. Take part in our “End Hunger in AZ 1 Plate at a Time” Campaign by writing a message against hunger or supporting UFB on a paper plate and sending the picture to us. You can also complete a 30 Ways in 30 Days Calendar that features 30 different ways to help raise awareness and support United Food Bank. Anything you do to help raise awareness helps make a huge difference. Together we can end hunger in Arizona.
Christmas in July Thank You

Just like the holidays, Christmas in July has come and gone too soon. We loved seeing the creativity among the East Valley Chambers of Commerce that helped raise food and funds for United Food Bank. More than 100 businesses within the Chandler, Mesa and Tempe Chambers rallied their employees and customers together to help provide meals for Arizonans in need.

Each business did something unique to promote their food drives. The Mesa Chamber employees wore UFB shirts to work and showed them off on Facebook for “Celebrate a Member Day.” Organ Stop Pizza went on ABC15’s Sonoran Living and 12 News’ Arizona Midday with our Community Outreach Coordinator, Melissa, to promote their Christmas in July efforts. Santa even stopped by Organ Stop Pizza one weekend to ask for more donations for UFB. Alphagraphics in Tempe held a social event at Cadillac Ranch to also raise food and funds for Christmas in July. Another great story came from the Chandler Chamber, where 2,000 LBS of Gatorade Propel was donated to UFB by Brooks Honaker from Bowman Insurance.

We are incredibly grateful for this widespread, enthusiastic support of Christmas in July. Every business and chamber that participated is helping make a huge impact in the lives of those who struggle with hunger. We cannot wait to learn the total number of meals that the food drive provided. Stay tuned to our Facebook page to find out too!
