United Food Bank serves Eastern Maricopa County, Gila County, Pinal County, Southern Navajo County, and Southern Apache County.

Food Distribution

  • We distributed 22,398,097 lbs. of food and grocery items (22,070,311 lbs. to 262 Community Partner Agencies/Sites & shared 327,786 lbs. with 4 sister food banks)
  • Total Distributed food provided more than 18,665,081 meals – over 51,100 meals daily (365 days/year)
  • 64% (14,404,978 lbs.) of all the food we distributed through partner agencies/sites went to 146 partners in the East Valley & Maricopa County
  • During the year through our “Mobile Pantries” we made 1,704 distributions (an average of 142 distributions monthly) providing fresh produce and other food assisting more than 275,400 people
  • In our 31 year history (since 1983) we’ve distributed 280,057,994 lbs. of food – food enough for 233,381,662 meals


  • During an average workday our warehouse processed more than 96 tons of food
  • For each $1.00 of expenses we can distribute 5.72 lbs. of food worth $9.50 – enough to provide 4.77 meals
  • Our annualized Inventory Turns Rate was 19.8
  • Our volunteers provided more than 51,700 hours of work – equivalent to nearly 25 paid staff


  • Our Emergency Food Box provider agencies reported distributing more than 573,661 food boxes which assisted more than 482,900 households and over 1,703,819 people
  • During FY ‘12/’13 through our internal food box programs (Food for Thought & Helping Hands) we distributed 4,873 food boxes to at-risk children & families
  • Through our self-help food purchase program (Help Yourself) we distributed over 17,265 food boxes/bags assisting more than 52,700 neighbors
  • During the year, our 43 Kids’ Cafes and after school programs/sites were serving an average of 17,395 nutritious meals and/or snacks weekly to more than 4,100 children daily
  • Our weekend Back Pack Program reached another 12,800+ children and their families
