Hike for Hunger

Please join us for the Inaugural Hike for Hunger, sponsored by The Mesa Baseline Rotary Club and Bashas’ to benefit United Food Bank.

The Mesa Baseline Rotary has been fighting hunger in partnership with our local United Food bank for many years with generous grants from our fundraising projects.  We know how to fight difficult battles. In fact, our international partnership in Guaymas Mexico has been battling childhood deafness for over twenty years with thousands of children having their hearing restored through that annual event. We have also joined with over 1 million other Rotarians worldwide to eradicate polio from every nation on earth. Rotary alone has contributed $1 billion in the past 25 years. We are close to eliminating this debilitating childhood disease.

Now the Mesa Baseline Rotary brings this same passion and commitment to our inaugural Hike for Hunger, which benefits United Food Bank. This hike allows us to mobilize as a community to help with this important cause. Currently, Arizona is tied as the worst state in the U.S. when it comes to child hunger, and the 5th worst for overall food insecurity.

    • 1 in 4 children; 1 in 5 adults; and 1 in 7 seniors struggle with hunger.
    • More than 888,100 Arizonans receive emergency food assistance annually.
    • United Food Bank distributes over 45,200 meals daily, 365 days per year.

Choose from 1 – 5 mile long routes

Please indicate on your registration form how many miles you intend to hike.

Cost

Hikers | $25.00 minimum fee and $6.00 park entry fee per car

Hikers may pay fee in advance or collect pledges from supporters and turn in by the day of the event.

Sponsors | $500.00

Registration

If you are registering as a hiker and prepaying online:

  1. Please go to http://hikeforhunger.brownpapertickets.com/ to register and pay online.
  2. Please complete the required waver form. (*If you are under 18, a legal guardian must complete the waver form.) Download waver here.
  3. Mail waver to United Food Bank by April 19th, or bring it with you the day of the event.

*Any hikers 12 or under must be accompanied by an adult at the event.

If you are registering as a hiker and are paying the fee by cash or check:

  1. Fill out a registration form. Download registration form here.
  2. Please complete the required waver form. (*If you are under 18, a legal guardian must complete the waver form.) Download waver here.
  3. Mail in registration form, waver, and payment to United Food Bank by April 19th or bring them with you the day of the event. *Make checks out to United Food Bank.

*Any hikers 12 or under must be accompanied by an adult at the event.

If you are registering as a hiker and are collecting pledges from supporters to pay the fee:

  1. Fill out a registration form. Download registration form here.
  2. Please fill out a pledge form for your supporters. Download pledge form here.
  3. Please complete the required waver form. (*If you are under 18, a legal guardian must complete the waver form.) Download waver here.
  4. Have your supporters pay online at http://supporthikeforhunger.brownpapertickets.com/ or by cash or check (made out to United Food Bank).
  5. Mail in registration form, waver, and cash/checks to United Food Bank by April 19th or bring them with you the day of the event. *Have your supporters make check out to United Food Bank.
