United Food Bank receives $30,000 from Fry’s Food Stores as part of their “Bringing Hope to the Table” campaign
Arizona- July 11, 2012 – United Food Bank recently received a $30,000 donation from Fry’s Food Stores as part of their “Bringing Hope to the Table” campaign.
“Bringing Hope to the Table” is a nationwide effort by Kroger to support local food banks. Since it began it 2006, the program has raised $18 million in funds and $7 million in food for more than 80 food banks across the country.
This money could not have come at a better time for United Food Bank, as they typically see a drop in donations and an increase in need in the summertime. This funding from Fry’s will be used to support United Food Bank’s programs that work to provide food for thousands of individuals and families every day in Arizona.
“We are thankful to have the support of a great company like Fry’s Food Stores,” said Bob Evans, President and CEO at United Food Bank. “And at this time of the year, their help is critical. Already struggling families are forced to stretch their budget even further with school out and utility bills up. We need help to keep up with that need, and the support of Fry’s helps us do that.”
Fry’s Food Stores have been huge supporters of United Food Bank over the last several years; consistently contributing food, funds and awareness to the cause. Fry’s associates also volunteer regularly at United Food Bank and even serve on the United Food Bank Board of Directors.
“Fry’s and its associates are proud to partner with United Food Bank in the battle against hunger,” says Fry’s President Jon Flora. “Last year, our company donated more than 8 million meals to Arizona food banks through cash donations, in-kind donations through our company’s food rescue program, food drives and coin collections,” Jon says.
